At the beginning of February, British musician Sampha released his debut album, Process. Most people would probably recognize Sampha’s voice from his features on Drake’s “The Motion” and “Too Much,” or from SBTRKT’s “Hold On” and “Never Never.” His talent has also been noticed by a number of other great artists like Kanye West, Frank Ocean and Solange. Needless to say, this guy’s got talent.
Process will probably go down as one of my favorite albums of all time. I’ve listened to it at least three times a week for the last month and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I love the way his raw, soulful vocals contrast against the trancelike, electronic instrumentals. He creates something that is both real and surreal at the same time. My only wish is that I was listening to it on vinyl. Also be sure to check out his NPR special, “Tiny Desk Concert.”
As I was scrolling through my Facebook feed one day, I came across a sponsored article from YourEDM.com titled Finally, an All-Natural, Legal Party Pill That’s Actually Good for You [Review]. Of course, I clicked on it because if I wasn’t going to, Facebook’s algorithms wouldn’t have put it there. I read the review, scanned the page for any advertorial disclaimers and double-checked the site’s credits before deciding the source seemed legit.
